Purchased for Epson 8100 August 15, 2010 I bought this for an Epson 8100 projector let's just say it gave me a little bit more trouble than I thought it should. For being a universal mount it didn't look universal when attached to my 8100... instead of looking like a cross on top of the projector my final layout looks more like a peace sign the only reason i left it like that was because i was able to get the center of gravity where it should be and that was the only way those little arms would line up so the weight was there... The nuts you have to loosen to adjust tilt and pitch were way too tough to loosen up I had to use Vice grips. Mounting the top to the ceiling was cake took me like 5 min to find a stud and place the top piece. I guess it may work better for other projectors?
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS FOR EPSON 8100/8500.
Not a Perfect Fit For Optoma HD20 April 20, 2010 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Disclosure: I'm not that "handy", mechanically inclined or creative when it comes to install or repair something related to home improvement. Review: I bought this one to mount Optoma HD20. I had really hard time figuring out the configuration on Mount for this particular projector. The reason I am suspecting is that being universal mount this device has very awkward settings and Optoma seems the smallest of the pack so that fuels the confusion to figure out the right way to attach this device to projector. In fact in this process I broke one of the screws that goes into the projector mounting hole by applying pressure to over tight it. This device does come with proper hardware for this particular projector (and as other have noticed in fact it comes with plenty of hardware to accommodate every single projector ever made) and hence if you want to try it out go ahead and buy it. However I wish I had spent more and bought the Mount that is meant specifically for this brand of projector sold at Optoma web site to make my life easier.
Great construction, a little hard to figure out, but good product. March 22, 2010 Great construction, a little hard to figure out, but good product. This is a solidly constructed mounting system. It comes with PLENTY of spare screws of different sizes that fit many kinds of projectors, when you may just need 3 or 4 screws. It also has adjustable arms that fit different projectors. However, because this product is made to be generic, and able to fit different brands/models of projectors, it is a bit hard to understand the instructions. But once you figure it out, the product works well.
Don't Hesitate! March 5, 2010 Buy this! Do not hesitate.
The quality is excellent. It's very sturdy and strong. For $50 it can't be beat. I feel like I could hang from this thing from my ceiling, and I'm a big guy.
Worst product I ever purchased February 1, 2010 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Okay, I have been a loyal Amazon customer for about 10 years now. Also, I have never wrote a review for a product, bad or good, but I just had to say something about this "universal" product.
Why 1 star, and why you should not buy this product:
1. Instruction manual. Complete gibberish -- which is always the sign of the quality of the product you are buying. The images are not clear, and the quality of images is bad so you cannot tell what screw you need to use or what thing you need to tighten.
2. "Universal". Only if the term: "yes, we included every screw known to man in this package". We made it universal with the help of a hammer and pliers. It does not fit on our projector.
3. Quality. I have seen some poor things but this one takes the cake. You could not loosen the screws, the movable components would not move. If you are buying this product make sure you have some WD-40 because you will need it. Make sure you have a hammer too.
4. Once we installed it, we were not able to tighten the screws and bolts so the projector would stay in a desired spot.
All in all, we wasted a lot of time and effort to put this piece of junk up on my wall.
Strongly recommend you find a good alternative, and make sure to buy a recommended mount for your projector.
